recognized the Cossack territory.
1677– 1678 Chyhyryn campaigns of Turkish-Tatar army
resulting in the complete destroyal of the
Cossack capital Chyhyryn. At the same time
the Turks appointed Y. Khmelnytsky hetman
of right-bank Ukraine and entitled him as
Prince of Sarmatia and Ukraine.
August The peace treaty of Bakhchysarai between
1681 Russia and Turkey, according to which, left-
bank Ukraine and Kyiv went to Russia, the
part of Kyiv region, Podillya and Bratslav
region remained under the authority of
Turkey; the territory between the Dnieper and
the Buh was announced to be neutral. The
same year
Y. Khmelnytsky was sent to Stambul and
executed.
May The Eternal Peace treaty between Polish-
1686 Lithuanian Commonwealth and Russia was
concluded in Moscow on the basis of truce of
Andrusovo. According to its terms Poland
recognized left-bank Ukraine, Kyiv,
Zaporizhzhya, Chernihiv and Siversk regions
to be annexed to Russia; southern Kyiv
regions, Volyn’ and Halychyna remained
under the authority of Poland; Podillya went
to Turkey, southern Kyiv regions and Bratslav
regions were neutral lands.
