residence of hetman, Moscow Streltsy
regiment was to locate there and maintained
by local authorities;
7) hetman was forbidden to have relations
with foreign states, letters from abroad were
sent to Moscow without previous opening;
8) hetman did not have to break “eternal
peace with Poland, etc".
1692– 1696 Uprising under the command of Petro
Ivanenko (Petryk), who was declared hetman
by Zaporozhian poor people. He concluded an
alliance with the Crimea, brought forward the
program of liberation of Ukraine from
foreign domination and liquidation of
szlachta’s and starshynas’ yoke. Mazepa
suppressed that insurrectionary movement
violently.
1695– 1696 Azov-Dnieper campaigns of Ukrainian and
Russian armies resulting in seizure of the
fortress of lower areas of the Dnieper river,
Azov in particular, but the failed to occupy
the Northern Black Sea Littoral.
1700- The Great Northern War of Russia and
1721 Sweden. The lands of Ukraine became the
