November, 27 The Supreme Council passed (by 307 votes) a
2004 resolution about the political crisis in Ukraine.
It recognized the election results of
November, 21 as such, which did not
correspond to people’s will. In the evening,
people on the Maidan congratulated Yulia
Tymoshenko, a leader of “The Orange
Revolution” on her birthday. The parliament
expressed its non confidence to CEC.
November, 28 In Severodonetsk the all-Ukrainian congress
2004 of deputies took place, where all “orange”
actions are condemned. They also planned to
conduct a referendum concerning a probable
change of administrative-territorial structure
of Ukraine (establishment of South-East
Autonomous Ukrainian Republic with its
capital in Kharkiv). 30 deputies, the Prime
Minister V. Yanukovych and the mayor of
Moscow Y. Luzhkov took part in the
congress. Y. Luzhkov called Maidan “an
orange sabbath”. There were appeals for
separatism and propositions to take V.
Yanukovych to the president’s oath. The
Committee of National Rescue forwarded an
ultimatum to Kuchma with demands to
discharge V. Yanukovych from the position
of the prime minister for his protection of
election falsification and participation in
separatist actions. I. Smishko, the head of the
Security Service of Ukraine, announced that
the Security Service would not “interfere in
political processes in the country, but will
continue to fulfill their authority, defending
