2005 Ukraine the country with a market economy.
December, 6 Aggravation of gas contradictions between
2005 – Russia and Ukraine. It was connected with
January, 4 the fact that Russian OJSC “Gazprom”
2006 accused Ukrainian party of non-constructive
approach, larceny of Russian gas and
demands to introduce market calculations for
the provided gas and its transit to Europe. On
January, 1, 2006, Russia stopped gas supply
in Ukraine. Difficult negotiations resulted in
certain agreements; the treaty was signed (gas
was supplied by 95 dollars per 1000 m?
instead of 50 dollars). The above mentioned
events showed the absence of transparency
and clear strategy in gas sphere.
January, 10 The new political crisis in Ukraine. After
2006 continuous discussions, the Supreme Council
                              resigned Y. Yekhanurov’s government by
250 votes of people’s deputies. He acted as
prime minister until the formation of new
                              Cabinet of Ministers. President V.
                              Yushchenko called this resignation
                              nonconstitutional.
