March             The law proceeding over a group of Ukrainian
            1931              political  figures  (the  former  members  of  the
                              Central  Council,  UPR  leaders,  leaders  of
                              UPSR  and  USDRP  V.  Holubovych,  P.
                              Hrystiuk, K. Bozhko, M. Shrag) in case of the
                              so-called “The Ukrainian National Centre”.
                              50  convicted  people  were  accused  of
                              preparation  of  the  armed  uprising  aiming  at
                              overthrow  of  the  Soviet  power.  Majority  of
                              the  convicted  died  in  camps,  the  other  got
                              new  terms  of  imprisonment.  M.  Hrushevsky
                              was deported to Moscow. All convicted have
                              been  rehabilitated  by  the  Supreme  Court  of
                              Ukraine.
            August, 7         The  law  about  socialist  property  protection,
            1932              the  so-called  “Law  of  five  ears”,  which
                              provided shooting and expropriation for theft
                              of collective  farm possessions. If there were
                              any mitigating circumstances,  a thief had to
                              be imprisoned for 10 years at least.
            October, 10       The  opening  of  Dniproges  (hydropower
            1932              station).  It  provided  energy  to  a  powerful
                              complex of heavy industry, formed in the east
                              and south of Ukraine during the first five-year
                              plan.
            December,     6   The resolution of CPC of the USSR and CC
            1932              CP(b)U about putting on the “black board”.
                              It referred to the villages, where they failed to
                              complete the plan of grain purchases. It was
                              demanded  to  stop  delivery  of  products  and
                              goods  to  such  villages,  ban  trading  activity
                              and collect loans. Such villages appeared in a
                              blockade and were doomed to death.
