unification of the Ukrainian Military
Organization (UMO) and nationalistic student
organizations. The OUN goal was to struggle
for independent conciliar Ukrainian state. To
reach the goal, various methods of struggle
were proposed, including revolutionary ones:
sabotage acts, expropriation, terror. Colonel
Y. Konovalets became the leader of the
organization.
January The beginning of socialistic competition. The
1929 management of mines “Tsentral’na” and
“Pivdenna” (Artemvuhillya) signed the first
agreement about competition. Thus mass
campaign of work collectives’ competition,
initiated by the authority, started.
November The resolution of the plenum of CC RCP(b)
1929 “About agriculture of Ukraine and work in
village” said, that Ukraine had within the
shortest time to carry on collectivization,
become an example to other republics. It
became the start of mass collectivization,
which opened one of the most bitter pages of
Ukrainian history.
January, 5 The resolution of CC RCP(b) “About rates of
1930 collectivization and means of state assistance
of collective farm construction”. Ukraine was
one of the groups of regions, where
collectivization was planned to be finished by
autumn 1931 or spring 1932. Agricultural
artel was considered to be a transitional form
of collective farm (kolhosp) on the way to
commune.
