1934 Kharkiv to Kyiv.
December, 9 After S. Kirov’s assassination on December,
1934 1, 1934, changes into the code of criminal
procedure were introduced: assumption of
innocence was cancelled, the basis for charges
was plea of guilt of the accused, but not
evidence of guilt; investigation in terror case
lasted 10 days at most and the case was
investigated without a lawyer present; such
cases were not subject to appeal or clemency.
It laid the basis of mass terror and
lawlessness during next years.
August, 31 Stakhanov’s movement was initiated. The
1935 coal miner of mine “Tsentral’na-Irmine” (the
town of Kadiyivka) O. Stakhanov set the
record of coal extraction, exceeding the norm
by 14.5 times (he cut 102 tons of coal instead
of 7 tons). Taking into account, that
Stakhanov was assisted by two workers, who
were propping drift (they shifted from time to
time, the names of the co-authors of the
famous record were not preserved in
historical records), the labour record was to
have been shared three miners. But this fact
was concealed and propaganda called for
mass development of Stakhanov’s movement.
