1932 of the USSR and compulsory residential
registration. Peasants did not get passports
and it did not give them any chance to save
themselves from starvation in cities.
Winter 1932 – Famishment in Ukraine, which was
spring-summer artificially organized by the communist
1933 power, as natural factors, such as drought,
poor harvest were absent. It was a terror by
famine, genocide and ethnocide, oriented
against the main substance of Ukrainian
nation – peasants. They planned to arouse fear
in souls, political apathy and change them
into “small screws” of totalitarian system. The
famishment was a result of direct orders and
instructions of the communist power,
expropriation of all provisions under the
pretext of grain purchases and severe actions
of grain purchasing commissions. There was
no famine in the cities. Only those, who grew
wheat and produced grain were doomed to
death. The official propaganda concealed the
facts of famishment. The famishment victims,
according to various estimations, range from
3.5 mln. to 8-10 mln. people.
March The resolution of the USSR government
1933 about organization of state universities,
instead of institutes of popular schooling,
formed on the basis of universities and
institutes in 1919.
Spring- Mass arrests of Ukrainian writers. Out of
summer 1933 259 members of the Union of Soviet writers
of Ukraine 233 people were repressed in the
