Ukraine. National regions were established,
theatres and other cultural places were
opened. Since the end of 20-ies, Stalin’s
administrative command system started its
attack against Ukrainization, which was
called “Ukrainian Renaissance”. At the
plenum of CC CPB/U in February, 1927 the
Russian language was acknowledged as a
language of particular significance; the
position of O. Shumsky, the Commissar of
Education, was condemned as “nationalistic
decline”. The same viewpoint of M. Skrypnyk
was condemned in 1933. The National
Renaissance became “The Shot Renaissance”.
Ukrainization was curtailed in 1938 with the
resolution of SPC USSR an CC of CP(b)U
about compulsory learning of the Russian
language at schools with other languages of
instruction. It promoted the russification
process greatly.
January, 19 VII All-Ukrainian Congress of Councils in
1924 Kharkiv approved the draft of the
Constitution of the USSR.
January, 31 II Congress of Councils of the USSR
1924 approved the first Constitution of the USSR.
