1921 University in Lviv. It appeared in response to
total polonisation of higher education in
Halychyna. It consisted of 3 departments with
1500 students. It existed till 1925.
Summer Famine in Ukraine. It embraced mainly
1921-1923 southern parts. Reasons:
postwar ruin, Soviet power policy, taking
grain out of Ukraine to provide fro industrial
centres of Russia, drought. Nearly 500
thousand people died.
October All-Ukrainian Orthodox Church Synod
1921 proclaimed the establishment of Ukrainian
Autocephalous Orthodox Church (UAOC)
with V. Lypkivsky as its head. By that
resolution Ukrainian church became
independent from Moscow patriarchate: the
church service was conducted in the
Ukrainian language, traditional cassocks, long
beards and hair of clergymen were cancelled;
laity could take an active part in church
management, etc. It was liquidated in 1930.
October Autonomous Republic of Crimea within the
1921 structure of the Russian federation was
formed. It was resolved by Moscow, without
coordination with Ukraine.
October- The second “Winter March” of UPR army
November under Y. Tyutyunnyk’s commandment. About
1921 2 thousand volunteers crossed Soviet-Polish
border and marched to the territory of
Ukraine, trying to raise mass anti-Bolshevist
action. The expectations did not come true,
though. The raid participants were surrounded
in Zhytomyr region, a part of them died,
