Poland did not fulfill the demands about the
autonomy status, it abolished the status of
Halychyna as a separate administrative unit
(the seym of Halychyna was dissolved). The
name of “ Eastern Halychyna” was changed
into “Eastern Little Poland”, etc.

ТHEME 13. Ukraine in the period between wars (20-30-ies of
the 20-th century).

January- The mass actions of peasants against
March 1921 Bolsheviks (about 120) embraced almost the
whole territory of the republic. Peasants were
dissatisfied with the policy of “military
communism” and surplus-appropriation
system. Peasant actions and uprising of
military seamen in Kronshtadt under the
slogan of “Councils without Communists”
made the Bolshevist Party refuse from the
policy of “military communism”.
March Х Congress of RCP(b) in Moscow resolved to
1921 give up the policy of “military communism”,
about abolition of surplus-appropriation
system and establishment of tax in kind. The
extraordinary session of All-Ukrainian
Central Executive Committee in Kharkiv
duplicated the above mentioned resolution. It
became the beginning of the new course, the
so-called New Economic Policy (NEP),
which provided:
