February, 15 The law “About Language” asserted the
1919 official status of the Ukrainian language, its
functioning norms and the right of national
minorities to use “their native language in
official affairs dealing with authorities”.
February, 15- The military campaign of UGA in
17 Vovchukhiv. Ukrainian fighters actually
1919 broke the railway communication between
Lviv and Peremyshl, which was used for
getting assistance to Polish troops in
Halychyna.
February, 25 Military actions were stopped in Halychyna
1919 by demand of Entente countries. On February,
5 the French-English mission arrived in Lviv.
It was headed by French general Barthelemy.
The front was in the state of equilibrium and
the mission did not act. When Lviv appeared
in the state of blockade due to Vovchukhiv
campaign, meaning the possibility of Polish
troops’ defeat, Entente demanded to stop
attacks immediately. Barthelemy, the head of
the mission, arrived to the Headquarters of
Ukrainian forces in Khodoriv and brought the
ultimatum of the Entente: to cease war and
establish the border line. According to it,
Ukrainian troops had to retreat to the east
from the Bug river. Poland got Lviv, oil
region of Drohobych-Boryslav, a considerable
part of the Eastern Halychyna. As Ukrainian
part noticed, it was “dictatorship”. For that
reason representatives of Halychyna
neglected the ultimatum.. Thus, the mission of
Barthelemy failed. The Entente stood on the
