Kolomyis’ka,  Berezhans’ka  and  the  like.  In
                              the  second  half  of  November  UGA
                              enumerated 25 thousand men. By September,
                              1919  it  rose  up  to  125  thousand.  The  main
                              reason  for  that  was  the  fact,  that  population
                              saw the defence of their native land a matter
                              of life and death.
            November, 21     Ukrainian troops retreated from Lviv. Armed
            1918              conflicts  of  Ukrainian  and  Polish  armies  in
                              Lviv  started  on  November,  1.  Despite  the
                              numerical  superiority  of  Polish  army  (200
                              thousand), the first three weeks did not bring
                              success to any. Only when it was decided to
                              send  Polish  military  groups  from  Peremyshl
                              to Lviv, Ukrainian troops had to leave Lviv.
                              WUPR  government  moved  to  Ternopil’.
                              Since  January,  2,  1919  it  moved  to
                              Stanislaviv.
            December, 1       The  bilateral  preliminary  treaty  of  WUPR
            1918              and  the  Directory  was  concluded  about
                              “unification of both Ukrainian states in to a
                              single  state  unit”.  On  January,  3  Ukrainian
                              National  Council  ratified  the  agreement  in
                              Stanislaviv.
            January, 4        Ukrainian  National  Council  in  Stanislaviv
            1919              adopted  the  Law  of  establishment  of  the
                              Council Presidium, consisting of 9  members
                              (the  President  of  the  Council  was  the  tenth
                              member  –  Y.  Petrushevych).  The  presidium
                              was  responsible  for  government  formation,
                              assignment  of  high-ranking  officials  and
                              officers,  law  declaration,  amnesty  and
                              clemency  right.  The  new  government  –  the
