territorial boundaries, and independence and
equality in foreign affairs”. The supremacy of
the Constitution and laws of the republic on
its territory were proclaimed, etc. The
Declaration was a constitutional act, which
determined further domestic and foreign
policy of Ukraine.
July, 23 L. Kravchyuk was elected the Chairman of
1990 the Supreme Council. 27 candidates applied,
22 of them stood down, L. Kravchyuk was
elected out of 5 candidates by 239 votes.
July, 24 The blue-and -yellow flag was raised over
1990 Kyiv city hall.
August, 1 For the first time on the territory of Ukraine
1990 the monument to V. Lenin was unmounted
in the city of Chervonohrad (Lviv oblast).
August, 3 “The law about economic independence of
1990 Ukraine” was approved. It said that all
national wealth is a property of people; the
full national economic independence and
freedom of entrepreneurship were proposed; it
was planned to introduce own currency unit;
the right of the country to be a member of
international financial organizations was
vindicated.
September, 14 The monument to V. Lenin was unmouted in
1990 Lviv.
October, 1-2 Mass meetings in Kyiv under the slogan “No
1990 – to union treaty!”
October, 9 The monument to V. Lenin was unmouted in
