In 1958 “golden rain” of state awards fell on
Ukraine: the republic and 15 oblasts were
awarded with Lenin’s order, many collective
farmers were awarded with a title of Hero of
Socialist Labour. However, achievements
could have been more substantial and lasting
and development of agriculture could have
been deprived of considerable deformations
and disproportions but for Khrushchyov’s
subjective actions and impact of his
voluntaristic overprogrammes (ploughing up
of new soils, unjustified extension of acreage
under corn and the task to “catch up with the
USA in terms of meat, butter and milk
production per unit of population”). Since
1958 decline in agricultural production
started.
Autumn Martial courts of MIA troops were
1953 liquidated. The MIA special meeting as of
“instruments of mass terror and purge” took
place.

1954 unification of Ukraine and Russia (1654-
1954)” were published and approved by CC
CPSU. They formulated the official
conception of Ukraine’s historic development.
They fully denied the scheme of historical
development of Ukraine, presented by M.
Hrushevsky. In “Theses” Kievan Rus was
