cancelled the union of Byzantine-rite Catholic
Church (Greek-Catholic Church) with Rome
(1596) and subjugated it to Russian Orthodox
Church. 1400 clergymen, who refused to
satisfy the decision, together with
metropolitan Y. Slipyi, were imprisoned and
