December, 6 “The First winter march” of a part of UPR
1919 army to Soviet and A. Denikin’s rear. 5
thousand soldiers of UPR under the
commandment of M. Omelyanovych-
Pavlenko and Y. Tyutyunnyk started raid
between the rivers of Bug and Dnipro. It
lasted for more than 5 months. The troops, in
battles, covered 2 thousand kilometers and
joined S. Petliura’s units, which were
attacking together with Polish army on May,
7, 1920.
December, 16 Red Army units occupied Kyiv.
1919
December, 24 Galician army came under the authority of
1919 UPR government. On December, 29, the
treaty of unification of the Dnipro region
army and Galician army was ratified at the
meeting of UPR government. The appeal
expressed the faith in the fact that “since now
no enemy’s intrigue will break apart two parts
of Ukrainian people… Like mothers worry
about her children, our mother Ukraine cannot
be at peace until our Land of Halychyna,
which is dear to our hearts, is living together
with other lands of Independent Conciliar
Ukraine”. The fact of treaty signing was not
notified to the commandment of the Dnipro
army because of communication obstacles
(they obtained it on January, 3, 1920), when
