April, 29 1918 – M. Hrushevsky was
assigned the President of UPR, on the same
day the coup d’?tat took place, the power of
C.C. fell.

April, 29 The coup d’etat in Ukraine. P. Skoropadsky
1918 was proclaimed hetman. All-Ukrainian
Congress of Grain Producers (more than 8
thousand people) proclaimed general P.
Skoropadsky a hetman of Ukraine. The
Central Council was dissolved; a new state
formation was established in Ukraine –
hetmanate “Ukrainian State”. Hetman
Skoropadsky supported on the right forces:
1) all having private property, people, who
had much to lose (landlords, bourgeoisie,
well-off peasants and other);
2) Free Cossacks;
3) pro-Russian imperial forces, who saw
hope to restore “the unified and indivisible
Russian Empire” with the help of P.
Skoropadsky’s regime;
4) old russified officials, who were eager to
get stability and usual ways of life;
The main external support of P. Skoropadsky
was represented by 450-thousand German-
Austrian army, as countries of German bloc
hoped to make Ukraine fulfill its obligations
in terms of supply of food and raw materials.
April, 29 P. Skoropadsky promulgated 2 documents: 1)
1918 «The Charter to All Ukrainian People»,
where he outlined the ideological platform of
