The middle of The establishment of The Ukrainian
May National State Union (UNSU). It included
1918 representatives of socialists-federalists,
samostiynyky, democratic grain producers
and the largest trade unions: the union of
council of Ukrainian railways and the union
of post and telegraph. They were against
restoration of Russian statedom within
Ukraine, limitation of civil rights and
condemned the policy of hetmanate.
May, 18 The Council of Ministers of Ukrainian state
1918 (headed by F. Lyzohub) established The State
Guard, almost military organs of supervision
and constraint, acting as police and
gendarmerie to protect the existing state
order, civil peace and order.
May, 27 The law “About the right of harvest of 1918
1918 on the territory of Ukrainian state”, which
was a logical step after the restoration of right
to private property on land. The question
arose: who is the owner of the harvest, grown
on that land? It strengthened the extremism of
peasants that started to ruin crop not to give it
to owners of land (they herd there, etc.)
June, 12 The signing of preliminary peace between
1918 Ukrainian State and the Council of People’s
Commissars of RSFSR about ceasing of the
state of war, exchange of captives,
establishment of the border line and
renovation of railway and post-telegraph
communications. Ukrainian State was granted
the right to organize consulates in many cities
of Russia. Soviet Russia conducted
