                              Pototsky, the governor of Halychyna. He was
                              sentenced to death but it was substituted to 20
                              years of  imprisonment under the pressure of
                              the  public.  Sichynsky  managed  to  escape
                              from the prison of Stanislaviv and emigrate to
                              the USA.
            July 1910         In  the  process  of  confrontation  of  Ukrainian
                              and Polish students, Adam Kotsko the leader
                              of Ukrainian student community was killed.
            1911              Pupils  of  Lviv  secondary  schools  founded  a
                              secret  society  “Plast”  to  conduct  military
                              training.
            1913              By    requests   of   metropolitan    Andriy
                              Sheptytsky (he became the head of Ukrainian
                              Greek-Catholic  Church  in  1900),  the
                              Ukrainian National Museum was opened in
                              Lviv.
            June, 28          Shevchenko  move  (honouring  the  100-the
            1914              anniversary  of  T.  Shevchenko’s  birthday)
                              took  place  in  Lviv.  It  was  a  mass
                              manifestation  of  formations  of  “Sich”,
                              “Sokil”,  ‘Plast’  and  other  organizations  that
                              were  responsible  for  moral  and  physical
                              preparation  of  youth  for  future  fights  for
                              revival of the Ukrainian state.
            July, 1           The  formation  of  the  Supreme  Ukrainian
            1914              Council (SUC)  in  Lviv. It was an  interparty
                              alliance of RURP, USDP and UNDP. It was

                              headed by K. Levytsky. On the 3  of August
                              on  the  pages  of  the  “Dilo”  newspaper  SUC
                              appealed   to   the   population    with   a
                              proclamation. It proclaimed that Russia “is a
