                              called  for    ruining  of  the  old  exploitative
                              order by  means of revolution with peasantry
                              as a main motive force.
            1870              Edited  by  V.  Barvinsky,  a  Ukrainian  daily
                              newspaper “Dilo” (“The Cause”) appeared in
                              Lviv  (the  very  name  of  the  newspaper
                              testified  to  its  opposing  looks  to  “Slovo”
                              (“The  Word”)  published  by  Russophiles).
                              Starting  from  the  year  of  1883,  a  literary-
                              scientific  periodical  “Zoria”  (‘The  Dawn”)
                              appeared.
            1882              The  law  proceeding  against  Russophile
                              leaders I. Naumovych, V. Plashchansky, who
                              were accused of treason in favour of Russia. It
                              caused  the  discreditation  of  Russophile
                              movement,  its  disorganization  and  gradual
                              decay.
            1885              The  formation  of  the  first  people’s
                              organization in Lviv – “The People’s Council
                              (“Narodna Rada”). They put it as their goal to
                              continue the cause of the Supreme Ruthenian
                              Council of 1848.
            1885              Y.  Fedkovych,  a  writer,  started  publishing
                              newspaper “Bukovyna”.
            1890              The  first  Ukrainian  political  party  emerged
                              in  Lviv  –  “Ruthenian-Ukrainian  Radical
                              Party” (RURP). It was headed by I. Franko,
                              M.  Pavlyk,  and  S.  Danylovych.  The  party
                              tried  to  unite  theoretical  principled  of
                              socialism and defense of HalychynaUkrainian
                              peasantry’s interests. The radicals paid a great
