SOME HOUSEHOLD HINTS
1. When frying any mixture to a red colour sprinkle a little water over
it from time to time till it turns red - to prevent it from getting burnt.
2. Before using yogurt or curds in any mixture beat it well until it
turns smooth.
3. Before cooking rice always wash it thoroughly and soak it in water
for a few hours. Soaking shortens its cooking time and makes it soft.
Always stir rice a couple of times with the handle of a long spoon
while cooking, to prevent it from becoming a lumpy mass and
sticking to the bottom of the pan.
4. If you tend to put much food colour in a dish and spoil its appea-
rance take a few drops of colouring in a spoon and dilute it with wa-
ter before stirring it into the dish. You can always add more colour
afterwards if you find that the dish looks dull.
5. If sweets do not set and are soft even after turning cold, place in the
fridge for an hour or two to harden them.
