other as for their contents and the goals they are trying to achieve, but at the same time these courses are
interconnected and thanks to these features they [courses] provide students with the properly balanced
      knowledge.

The first type is the lecture, primarily used for survey courses in cultural studies and history, applied
linguistics and the subject areas that students choose for their translation concentration (medicine, economics,
law, and others). The lecture is designed to expedite the transmission of knowledge to large numbers of students
sitting in rows facing the teacher, who speaks or reads to them on a topic.
Then there is an exercise class, which is generally seen as a type of modified lecture where students are
expected to acquire knowledge and skills from the teacher and practice using them in controlled exercises. This
type of course is used for translation practice, for basic and remedial foreign language classes, and for teaching
students how to use computer-based tools.
The third type of course is the seminar, which is offered at the undergraduate and graduate levels
primarily to teach special topics in literature, cultural studies and translation studies. The seminar involves
independent research work that is carried out by individual students and presented orally before the teacher and
the other class members as well as being submitted in written form. In the educational setting based on
objectivist view of learning and teaching, seminars tend to parallel the lecture/practice class arrangement with
regard to the type of interaction permitted or encouraged.

This summer, we’re going to propose the first-ever fuel efficiency standards for heavy-duty trucks. And
this fall, we’ll announce the next round of fuel standards for cars that builds on what we’ve already done. And by
the way, the federal government is going to need to lead by example. The fleet of cars and trucks we use in the
federal government is one of the largest in the country. We’ve got a lot of cars. And that’s why we’ve already
doubled the number of alternative vehicles in the federal fleet. And that’s why today I am directing agencies to
purchase 100 percent alternative fuel, hybrid, or electric vehicles by 2015. All of them should be alternative fuel.
