1113-1125 The rule of Volodymyr Monomakh, who got
life into order by establishing so-called
“Charter” where he asserted all rights of the
princely ruling top concerning their subjects
but he also made certain concessions to the
local poor and trade, limited usury, decreased
interest on loan, etc.
1116 V. Monomakh carried out another campaign
against the Polovtsians and forced them over
the Volga river. As a result, the Polovtsians
did not dare attack Rus for more than a
quarter of the century.
1117 The majestic work “The Testament to
Children” by V. Monomakh appeared where
he condemned internecine war and urged to
unite all lands of Rus. He recommended his
children to keep to Christian virtues.
1125-1132 The rule of prince Mstyslav, the son of
Monomakh, who continued his father’s
policy and preserved the unity of Kyivan
state.
1147 Yuriy Dolgorukiy, the son of V. Monomakh,
founded the city of Moscow.
1154 Yuriy Dolgorukiy, having taken the
advantage of death of Kyivan prince Iziaslav
II, throned in Kyiv but was poisoned to death
in 1157.
1169 Y. Dolgorukiy’s son Andriy Bogolubskiy
captured Kyiv and plundered it without
mercy. He took the shrine – the miracle-
working icon of the Virgin from the Church
