1073-1076 The rule of prince Sviatoslav Yaroslavovych,
who together with Vsevolod opposed Iziaslav
and made him escape to Poland.
1077-1078 After Sviatoslav’s death Iziaslav took the
Kyivan throne for the third time with the
support of the Polians.
1078 The death of Iziaslav in the battle with his
nephew Oleh Sviatoslavovych.
1078-1093 The rule of Vsevolod Yaroslavovych (the
father of Volodymyr II Monomakh) who tried
to consolidate the power of Grand prince and
preserve the unity of Kyivan state.
1097 The Council of Liubech. The princes of
Chernihiv, Smolensk, Volhynia, Terebovlya
and Kyiv took part in it and adopted the
following resolutions:
1) To abolish the principle of seniority and
establish the principle of patrimony.
According to that principle the son inherited
lands of the father; all controversial issues
were solved together at the councils;
2) agreed on general struggle against the
Polovtsians;
3) forbade to conclude private alliances with
the steppe people.
1113 The death of Kyivan prince Sviatopolk II. The
so-called “II Kyivan revolution” – the rise to
power of prince Volodymyr Monomakh, who
was invited to reign by Kyivan popular
assembly. They wanted him to put out the fire
