            October, 25       The  victory  of  armed  revolt  in  Petrograd.
            (November, 7)     P.G.  fell;  the  power  was  seized  by  the
            1917              Bolshevist Party headed by V. Lenin.
            October, 25       C.C. and other organizations established the
            (November, 7)     Regional Committee to protect the cause of
            1917              revolution.  It  became  the  supreme  organ  of
                              the executive power. Its power spread over 9
                              Ukrainian  provinces.  But  in  one  day  the
                              unified front of democracy split due to vague
                              assessment of events in Petrograd.
            November,     1  The  passing  of  power  in  Kyiv  to  C.C.  The
            (14)              Bolsheviks,  as  a  result  of  successful  fights
            1917              with  troops  of  Kyiv  military  district,  while
                              C.C.  kept  neutral,  gained  those  troops  to
                              withdraw  from  Kyiv  and  obtained  the
                              disbandment  of  officer  armed  groups.  They
                              lacked sufficient support in Kyiv that is why,
                              the C.C. army gained control over the city to
                              guarantee order.
            November,     7  ІІІ  Universal  of  C.C.  proclaimed  the
            (20)              formation  of  The  Ukrainian  People’s
            1917              Republic  (UPR)  within  all  9  provinces,  but
                              within  the  structure  of  the  future  federative
                              democratic Russian republic.
                              Besides, ІІІ Universal proclaimed:
                              1)  The power belonged to C.C.  and  its G.S.
                              till  the  Ukrainian  Constituent  Assembly  (the
                              elections were to take place on December, 27,
                              the convocation – on January, 9);
                              2)  The  private  property  was  abolished  for
                              landlords’,  monastic,  cabinet  and  church
                              lands, they were proclaimed to belong to all
