                              established  the  Ukrainian  professional
                              theatre for the money gathered by people.
            1867              As    a    result   of   Austrian-Hungarian
                              compromise (the lost war to Prussia preceded
                              it); the Austrian monarchy was turned into a
                              dualistic   Austro-Hungarian      monarchy.
                              Halychyna and Bukovyna became the parts of
                              the Austrian part of the state, Transcarpathia
                              joined the Hungarian side. The new
                              Constitution  of  Austro-Hungary  (1867)
                              declared equality of all nations – “all nations
                              of the state are equal in rights, each nation has
                              a solid right to preserve and develop its
                              nationality  and  language”.  In  Halychyna,
                              however,     with     all-powerful    Polish
                              administration, the rights of Ukrainians were
                              often violated:
                              - Ukrainian ambassadors (deputies) of the
                              regional seim had only 15 % of votes and
                              could  not  edict  or  oppose  to  the  Polish;
                              - in 1866 Polish became the state language of
                              all           regional           institutions;
                              - only the Pole could be the deputy of
                              Halychyna;
                              - the Pole was “the minister of Halychyna
                              affairs” in Vienna.
            1868 Narodovtsi founded cultural and educational
                              society “Prosvita” with a clear goal written in
                              its statute – “to facilitate education of people
