absorb, take in) each day. Some national cuisines make you fat. The
Japanese have a (high, highly) protein diet, while the Swiss eat a lot of
milk products. Personally, I'm lucky not to have to diet, but my friend,
John, can't eat anything without (consulting, considering, looking) it up
in his Calorie Chart. This is carefully organized so that strawberries and
peaches are under "Fruit"; potatoes and spaghetti come under "(Diary,
Starchy, Entrees) Foods" and so on. I took John to a nice low calorie
meal yesterday and at the end I (suggested, proposed, offered) him some
jelly. ”What does jelly come under?” he asked looking (at,for,on) his
chart. ”Half a litre of double cream,” I said (filling, taking, pouring) the
                            stuff over my plate.

9.Rearrange the following paragraphs in the right order to make a text.

                            a. The vegetables that came with the main courses were fresh but over-
cooked. The only exception was the string beans which were green
                                and crisp.
                            b. This three-month-old restaurant has attracted attention because it is a
restored, one hundred fifty-year-old mill. The decor is charming and
warm in an Early American, country style.
                            c. Because the main courses are so large, there is really no need for an
appetizer or soup. But for big eaters, I can recommend the mixed
salad. The clam chowder was tasty because it was home-made, but it
had no special distinction. The oysters on the half-shell were nicely
served on a bed of ice, although I would prefer to have a better
