                      Without  removing  the  tube  from  the  clamp  tripod,
                 allow it to cool to room temperature.  Then the test tube is
                 taken out and washed with water.  (Carefully, the test tube
                 was concentrated sulfate acid).

                                      Oxidation of alcohols

                      Primary  and  secondary  alcohols  are  oxidized  by

                 chromium blend.  In two test tubes pour 2-3 cm  of chromic
                                         3
                 mixture  and  add  1  cm    of  ethanol  to  the  droplets  when
                 stirring. (Caution! The mixture is heavily heated!), And in
                 the  other  one  -  1  cm3  of  isopropanol.    The  color  of  the
                 solutions  varies  from  orange  to  green,  in  the  ethanol  tube
                 there is a smell of ethanal (acetic aldehyde) that resembles
                 the smell of apples (sniff  it carefully!), And  in  a test tube
                 with isopropyl alcohol, a specific acetone smell.
                      The  orange  color  of  the  chromic  mixture,  which
                 contains  ions  of  hexavalent  chromium,  while  changing  to
                 green, due to the presence of trivalent chromium ions:
