The society is a historically formed set of individuals, a form of
collective coexistence of people and a system of diverse (economic,
moral, religious, political, legal) contacts and relations among
people.
Society and people are inseparably linked. Aristotle (the great
Greek philosopher) expressed his view that the development and
existence of a man is impossible outside of society. Society appears
simultaneously both as an environment and as a complex mechanism
for satisfying a man’s vital needs. In accordance with these needs in
any society there are certain structural elements – social institutions
such as families, economy (production of material goods), education,
spirituality (religion, non-religious types of world outlook, art),
management (power, state, law).
The state is a unique institution in society because it only has the
right to use force and coercion. The government agencies in their
activities can only operate within the limits of law and in the manner
prescribed by the current legislation (democratic societies). The basis
of the legislation of any country is the constitution which has the
highest legal force.
The power is the most important and necessary element of
human society. It exists in any association of people such as
organizations and institutions, in the state. Generally, power can be
determined as relations of domination and subjugation, i.e. one people
order, while others obey.
The authorities have the following elements:
- subjects – those people who control and they are the direct
bearer of power and those people who are led by (subordinates) –
individuals and their associations;
- object – the behaviour of individuals or their groups, ordered
by the subject of power;
- means which subject of power uses to influence subordinate
individuals.
Power as a complex social phenomenon is classified into many
types: political – carried out by various links of political system of
society; state power – a kind of political power, carried out by the
