2)  both  civil  and  military  power  in  Grand
                              Duchy of Rus belonged to hetman elected for
                              life;
                              3)  legislative  power  was  to  be  executed  by
                              the national assembly;
                              4)  finances and mintage were supposed to be
                              self-reliant;
                              5)  army  were  to  consist  of  30  thousand
                              Cossacks and 10 thousand mercenary army;
                              6)  Cossacks  were  granted  all  rights  and
                              liberties,  they  as  “people  of  chivalry”  were
                              exempted  from  taxes  and  duties,  obtained  a
                              permit to produce spirit and were subjected to
                              hetman jurisdiction only;
                              7)  the union was abolished, Orthodox church
                              was leveled in rights with Roman Catholicism
                              and other.
                              Unfortunately,  the  terms  of  Hadiach  treaty
                              remained  on  paper  only  for  most  part  as
                              Poland  did  not  wish  to  carry  out  its
                              commitments. On May, 22, 1658 Polish seim
                              ratified that treaty in a considerably shortened
                              version,  having  dropped  the  most  important
                              clauses.  It  led  to  a  great  discontent  of
                              Cossacks.
            July              The  battle  of  Konotop.  The  signing  of
            1659              Hadiach treaty caused aggression of Moscow
                              against Ukraine. In spring 150-thousand army
                              headed by prince O. Trubetskoy advanced to
                              left-bank Ukraine. I. Vyhovsky together with
                              Tatars  defeated  the  Russian  army  under  the
                              town  of  Konotop.  However,  Vyhovsky  did
                              not  take  advantage  of  his  victory  as
