            June              The  battle  of  Berestechko.  Retreat  of  Tatar
            1651              army,  which  left  the  battlefield  and  exposed
                              the  flanks  resulted  in  complete  defeat  of
                              Cossack  army.  The  peace  treaty  of  Bila
                              Tserkva became the aftermath of the battle.
            September         The peace treaty of Bila Tserkva:
            1651              1)  the  Cossack  territory  was  restricted  to
                              Kyiv voivodeship;
                              2)  Cossack  register  was  decreased  to  20
                              thousand;
                              3)  “the  registered-out”,  those,  who  did  not
                              remain  in  the  register,  had  to return  to their
                              masters and the previous state;
                              4)  B. Khmelnytsky was subjected the crown
                              hetman’s authority;
                              5)  B. Khmelnytsky’s right to keep up foreign
                              policy relations was restricted.
                              Evaluating  the  Treaty  of  Bila  Tserkva,  it  is
                              worth  mentioning,  that  B.  Khmelnytsky
                              considered it as a tactic step aimed at winning
                              some time and gather forces.
            May               The battle of Batih. Having gathered forces,
            1652              B. Khmelnysky began a fresh advance, which
                              resulted  in surrounding and  further defeat of
                              the  Polish  army.  M.  Kalynovsky,  an  army
                              commander,  died.  The  Ukrainian  army
                              occupied  the  territory  of  Ukraine  up  to  the
                              Sluch river.
            September         The death of B. Khmelnytsky’s son Tymosh
            1653              under  the  town  of  Suchava  during  the
                              campaign to Moldaviya to support V.  Lupul
