second item of the resolution entitled the
President of the European Parliament to send
the text of the resolution to EU Council,
European Commission, Ukraine’s
government and parliament, General
Secretaries of UNO, OSCE and Security
Council.
December, 9 V. Lytvyn was elected the Chairman of the
2008 Supreme Council of Ukraine. His
candidature was supported by 244 deputies
(154 – BYT, 40 – “OU-PSD”, 27 – the CPU,
20 – Lytvyn’s bloc, the Party of Regions –
3). V. Lytvyn announced about formation of
a new coalition of “The National
Development, Stability and Order” in the
parliament. The coalition consisted of three
deputy factions: BYT, Lytvyn’s bloc and
“Our Ukraine – People’s Self-Defense” bloc.
January, 13 The Russian-Ukrainian “gas war” was over.
2009 Russia renewed gas supply to the territory of
Ukraine for further transit to Europe. (Since
the beginning of January, 2009 “Gazprom”
ceased gas supply to the territory of Ukraine,
having blamed it for illegal gas
appropriation).
February, 3 International Court of Justice of UNO in the
2009 Hague recognized Zmiyinyi as an island and
marked Ukraine’s coastline in the area of
continental shelf. By this compromising
ruling, the Court solved contradiction that
