March, 6 The Supreme Council, after being blocked for

a certain understanding between opposition
and coalition. They voted for the agreed
resolution concerning Ukraine’s entering
NATO after the results of the nationwide

March, 28 The All-Ukrainian intelligentsia forum took
2008 place. The project of Ukraine’s humanitarian
development concept was discussed. The
basic priorities were determined: formation
of civil society, knowledge cult, cultural and
political consolidation of Ukrainians as a
European nation.
May, 16 2008 The Protocol of Ukraine’s joining the World
Trade Organization (WTO) came into force.
It was ratified by the Supreme Council on
April, 10, 2008. After 14 years of
negotiations and internal reforms, Ukraine
became a full-fledged 152-nd member of
this organization.
July, 27 2008 The festive liturgy at the monument to Saint
Volodymyr (Kyiv) to celebrate the 1020-ieth
anniversary of Kievan Rus christening. The
liturgy was performed by Patriarch
Varfolomiy I. By V. Yushchenko’s decree,
July, 28 was announced the day of memory
of prince Volodymyr Equal to the Apostles –
the Day of Kievan Rus christening.
