2008 Ukraine, which had been formed on
November, 29, 2007 by factions “Our
Ukraine – People’s Self-Defense” and BYT
terminated its activities due to the fact that
deputy faction “Our Ukraine – People’s
Self-Defense” left the coalition.
September, The Chairman of the Supreme Council
17 Arseniy Yatseniuk announced about his
2008 resignation. On November, 12 the Supreme
Council of Ukraine by 233 votes discharged
him of the position.
October, 9 The President of Ukraine V. Yushchenko
2008 signed the decree “About pre-term
termination of authority of the Supreme
Council of the sixth convocation of Ukraine
and call of the pre-term elections”. The
elections were fixed on December, 7, 2008.
October, 20 By V. Yushchenko’s decree the force of his
2008 previous decree dated by October, 9, 2008
about pre-term elections was suspended with
the aim of social and political stabilization in
Ukraine and taking immediate actions to
minimize negative impact of the world
financial crisis on the economy of Ukraine.
The Supreme Council of Ukraine renewed
its activities.
October, 24 The European Parliament recognized
2008 Famishment a crime against mankind and
expressed sympathy to Ukrainian people.
The resolution included 2 items. The first
said that Famishment was a terrible crime
against Ukrainian people and mankind; such
actions were severely condemned and it was
