                               and  Ukraine  regarding  naval  border  in  the
                               area of Zmiyinyi island. Romania insisted on
                               its treating as a cliff and denied the right of
                               Ukraine  to  set  the  border  of  territorial
                               waters. It also asserted that Zmiyinyi island
                               location  has  no  impact  on  the  delimitation
                               line. (In 1980-ies, on the shelf near Zmiyinyi
                               island  large  oil  and  gas  deposits  were
                               discovered,  which  became  the  reason  for
                               Romania’s  claims.  It  demanded  from
                               independent Ukraine to give them Zmiyinyi
                               and  territorial  waters  around  it.  Zmiyinyi
                               island is 17 hectares by area, 35 kilometres
                               from Ukrainian bank and 45 kilometres from
                               Romanian bank.
            March, 14         Ukraine  marked  the  70-th  anniversary  of
            2009               declaration  of  independence  of  Carpathian
                               Ukraine. The funeral service for defenders of
                               Carpathian  Ukraine  was  performed  in  the
                               Church  of  Ascension  in  Khust,  Avhustyn
                               Voloshyn’s bust, the President of Carpathian
                               Ukraine,  was  opened,  the  meeting  at  the
                               Holy Cross on Krasne Pole near Khust took
                               place.
            September,        The  All-Ukrainian  grand  meeting  on  the
            12                 occasion  of  the  20-th  anniversary  of
             2009              formation of the People’s Rukh of Ukraine
                               took  place.  The  role  of  the  Rukh  in  the
                               national  liberation  struggle  of  Ukrainian
                               people was underlined. In particular< it was
                               stated that “People’s Rukh of Ukraine is not
                               an  ordinary  political  party,  but  a  political
