missile uranium and plutonium was estimated
2.8 billion dollars too. Russia refused to pay
for withdrawal of nuclear fuel and slowed
down the process of nuclear disarmament.
The signing of tripartite agreement in
Moscow was a consequence of the reached
compromise. The USA and Russia provided
Ukraine guarantees of safety, financial and
technical support of missile dismantling.
Russia had also to provide compensation to
Ukraine supplying enriched uranium to satisfy
needs of nuclear power plants.
February, 3 Ukraine signed documents in Brussels
1994 regarding its participance in the program of
NATO “Partnership for the sake of peace”. It
was the first step of Ukraine to cooperation
with NATO.
March, 23 Signing a treaty about cooperation of
1994 Ukraine and European Union in Brussels. It
became the first step of Ukraine on its way to
European integration.
March, 27 Elections to the Supreme Council of
1994 Ukraine. The elections were conducted in
accordance with the majority law with the
absolute majority system and on multi-party
basis. 32 parties participated in the elections,
14 of which got the right to be represented in
the parliament. Only 75.6% of electors voted.
In the first round only 338 deputies were
elected out of 450. Another 56 deputies were
elected during the second and the third
rounds. In 44 voting districts the elections
