Summer The split of the Rukh of Ukraine. Some
            1993 members left the majority of V. Chornovil
                              and established the All-Ukrainian Movement
                              (Rukh) headed by L. Skoryk and M.
                              Porovsky.
            July, 2 The Supreme Council approved “The main
            1993 lines of foreign policy of Ukraine”. The main
                              principles were:
                              1) sequence, equality mutual respect;
                              2) non-interference into internal affairs of
                              other states;
                              3) absence of territorial claims to other states;
                              4) recognition of international law priority;
                              5) nuclear-free status.
            September The Supreme Council complied with L.
            1993 Kuchma’s request and discharged him from
                              duties of Prime Minister. L. Kravchyuk
                              headed the government, Y. Zviahilsky started
                              to perform functions of the Prime Minister.
            January The Presidents of Ukraine, Russia and the
             1994 USA signed a tripartite statement and
                              agreement of liquidation of nuclear weapon
                              in Ukraine. The agreement was signed in
                              Moscow. After dissolution of the USSR, 15%
                              of its nuclear potential was on the territory of
                              Ukraine    (176   intercontinental   ballistic
                              missiles and nearly 3 thousand units of tactic
                              nuclear weapon). That is why, Ukraine held
                              the third position after the USA and Russia in
                              terms of nuclear potential. In its Declaration
                              of Sovereignty Ukraine announced about its
                              intention to become a nucleus-free state. The
                              disarmament, though, demanded big expenses
