Stolypin was the most successful in Ukraine:
a stratum of wealthy peasantry was formed.
February, 20 – The activity of the second State Duma.
June, 3 1907 Ukrainian provinces were represented by 102
deputies. Ukrainian Duma community
included 47 deputies. A newspaper “Native
Cause” and a magazine “Duma News” were
published. The community stood for
autonomy of Ukraine, amnesty of political
prisoners. There was no common stand as for
agrarian issue. The community leaders
insisted on the program implementation by
means of reforms and called for compromises
with the tsar.
June, 3 The tsar’s manifest about dissolution of the

1907 2 State Duma. It became the last stage of
1905-1907 bourgeois revolution. Emergency
state was announced in the country, martial
courts (tribunals) were introduced dealing
with execution of revolt peasants, workers,
demonstration participants. Political parties
had to go underground. Autocracy conducted
anti-Ukrainian policy leading to almost
complete disappearance of Ukrainian
periodicals, the idea of education
ukrainization was forgotten.
April M. Hrushevsky founded “Ukrainian
1907 Scientific Society” in Kyiv. It was actually
turning into an unofficial academy of science.
July The foundation of the first stationary
1907 Ukrainian theatre by M. Sadovsky.
