                              man.  The  magazine  existed  till  the  year  of
                              1907,  then  it  was  turned  into  a  monthly
                              magazine “Ukraine”.
            1882              The  Ukrainian  professional  theatre  headed
                              by  Mark  Kropyvnytsky  was  opened  in
                              Yelysavetgrad (Kirovograd at present).
            1884              The  new  university  statute  was  introduced
                              abolishing the autonomy of universities.
            1887              Student actions of Kharkiv and Novorossiysk
                              Universities with the demand of abolition of
                              reactionary university statute.
            1887              The circular regarding the so-called “cook’s
                              children”,  was  issued  banning  to  admit
                              children  of  lower  social  stratum  to
                              gymnasiums.
            1891-1893         Appearance and activity of “Brotherhood of
                              Tarasivs”.  It  was  an  illegal  Ukrainian
                              organization with a distinct political trend. Its
                              members  called  themselves       “conscious
                              Ukrainians”.  It  was  founded  by  M.
                              Bazkevych,  M.  Baizdrenko,  I.  Lypa,  the
                              students  of  Kharkiv  University  and  V.
                              Borovyk, a student of Kyiv University. At T.
                              Shevchenko’s  grave  in  Kaniv  they  swore  to
                              be loyal to testaments of the national genius.
                              First  Tarasivs  shared  sovereignty  stands,  but
                              in  the  course  of  time  the  majority  believed
                              that  goal  to  be  unreal  and  began  to  share
                              autonomous-and-federalist  positions.  The
                              centres of the society appeared in 10 cities of
                              Ukraine,  but  in  1893  The  centre  in  Kharkiv
                              and other in some time were destroyed by the
