Laboratory work № 6

                    CHASSIS, BODY, CAB OF THE AUTOMOBILE

               1 The purpose of the work is to study the purpose, principle
           diagrams, design features of the chassis, body and cabin.

                         2 Basic theoretical provisions

               Studying the design of car frames, it is necessary to consider
           their types: lantern, central, combined.
               The central and combined frames are called vertebral. When
           applying the spar frame, the crankcase of the main gear is usually
           fastened on the central pipe and then apply a screw driving bridge
           with an independent suspension. With a single-frame frame, the
           crossings are used to support the engine, radiator and other
           aggregates.
               It is necessary to know:
               - why the frame sprockets should have a variable transverse
               section;
               - why the middle part of the frame should be lowered;
               - why the frame should have a high bending strength and high
           torsional rigidity.
               The body of the car is needed to accommodate passengers,
           cargo and driver. Distinguish: cargo, passenger, cargo-passenger
           and special.
               Trucks are equipped with equal types of specialized bodies.
               The bodies of passenger cars by design are divided into
           bearings, with a bearing support, semi-loaded and unloaded. At
           present, body-load bearing bodies are widespread because they
           have the smallest weight. Frame semi-unloaded or fully unloaded
           body structures are used on passenger cars of the highest grade for
           the purpose of better noise isolation.
               When studying the design of bodies, it is necessary to pay
           attention to the following:
               - availability of necessary space for accommodation of
           passengers, cargo and equipment;
                                             27
