In addition terminography is guided by the facts that terms
are indivisible units with form and content; that the form and
content of terms tends towards an unambiguous relationship; that
terms have a fixed place within a specific conceptual field, without
which reference the term has no specific meaning; and that
concepts are related to other concepts in the specific field they
together constitute.
Today in Ukraine a large number of dictionaries of different
disciplines is compiled. It's basically the following types of
dictionaries: translation, encyclopedic and reference, reference and
translation ones.
Translation dictionaries are the most common type of
modern terminology dictionaries. The most widely used translation
dictionary is Russian-Ukrainian one because of the suppression of
Ukrainian scientific language.
Encyclopaedias and reference dictionaries give scientific
explanations of concepts, rather than simply fixing terms.
Dictionary entry in lexicographical works of this type consists of
two parts - the names of a concept and its definition ().
Reference and translation dictionaries are works of mixed
type, they provide the translation of a term into a foreign language
(or several languages) and its explanation.
A terminological record is a structured guide that allows us
to assign information about a term in an ordered fashion:
 the entry
 the reference of the term
 the grammatical category of the term
 the subject area to which the term belongs
 the definition or context or both
 quivalents in other languages, if equivalents are going to be
included in this terminological job
