1765 There were 5 sloboda Cossack regiments
liquidated. Regular Hussars regiments were
formed instead. Five regimental
administrative districts were changed into
Sloboda-Ukrainian province with all-Russian
administration boards.
1765– 1769 The revision (census) and inventory of lands
and property – the so-called ‘The General
Inventory of Little Russia”.
1768 Uprising in right-bank Ukraine -
Koliyivschyna. In spring Zaporozhian
Cossack Maksym Zaliznyak gathered the
detachment of haidamaky in Holodnyi Yar
and started uprising that covered Kyiv region,
Bratslav region and Podillya. In the beginning
of June they occupied Uman’ with support of
sotnyk Ivan Honta. Scared with the large-
scale uprising and its further expansion over
the Left-bank Ukraine, the Russian
government ordered to crush the uprising. In
July Russian troops surrounded the camp of
haidamaky under Uman’, arrested rebels.
Russian citizens including Zaliznyak were
brought in Kyiv and after corporal
punishment exiled to Siberia. Residents of
right-bank Ukraine as citizens of Polish-
Lithuanian Commonwealth were given to the
Polish authorities for punishment. They were
extremely cruel and violent in their revenge
(more than 700 gallows were erected on the
way from Uman’ to Lviv). Honta was
subjected to a terrible torture – they took off a
