1) it is a large group of the Turkic-speaking
                              tribes living in Mongolia on the border with
                              the North China;
                              2) in the year of 375 they intruded into the
                              eastern Europe conquering various tribes, the
                              Antes including. As a result of their invasion,
                              nearly all Greek city-states of the northern
                              adjacent areas of the Black Sea ceased to
                              exist. The most famous ruler of the Huns was
                              Atilla, who conquered vast territories from the
                              Volga river to the Rhine river. His brother
                              Ellak was the ruler of the northern adjacent
                              areas of the Black Sea. In 451 Atilla was
                              defeated by the Romans and their allies, his
                              state decayed;
            6th cent.         The Avars:
                              1) they broke into the the Northern Black Sea
                              Littoral in 558. It was a tribal alliance with
                              Turkic-speaking tribes at the head. In the Old
                              Russian chronicles they are called the Avars.
                              (Obry);
                              2) after numerous campaigns and conquest of
                              the Slavic tribes, the Avars moved to reach
                              Balkans and up to the middle current of the
                              Danube river and set up the state of Avar
                              Khaganate stretching from the Elbe river to
                              Transcaucasia and the Don river. It did not
                              last long and preserved itself owing to the
                              military force only;
                              3) as a result of lasting Avarian wars, the
                              Slavic military-political alliance of the Antes
                              decayed. After the year of 602 the Antes have
                              not been mentioned in any historical sources.
