                              made them pay tribute.
            907, 911          The prince Oleh’s raids against Byzantium.
                              Due    to   the   victorious   raid   against
                              Constantinople  (the  Chronicle  says  that  he
                              nailed  the  shield  on  the  gates  of
                              Constantinople),  the  treaty  of  907  yea  was
                              concluded.  According  to  that  treaty  the
                              Byzantines  had  to  pay  indemnity.  The
                              merchants got the right to unlimited trade. In
                              the  year  of  911  the  peace  treaty  was
                              supplemented  with  legal  rules  regulating
                              trade  relations  and  relations  during  the
                              periods of conflicts.
            912-945           The  rule  of  prince  Ihor,  who  continued  the
                              policy of his predecessor:
                              1)  he  united  by  force  other  tribes  around
                              Kyiv;
                              2)  launched  raids  against  steppe  people
                              (Khazars and Pechenegs) protecting Rus from
                              their plundering raids;
                              3)  went  to  war  against  Byzantium  (in  941
                              with no success; in the year of 944 resulting
                              in peace treaty, that was much worse than the
                              Oleh’s  treaty  because  merchants  lost  their
                              right to unlimited trade; Rus lost its access to
                              the Black Sea, etc.).
            945               The  death  of  prince  Ihor,  who  was  killed
                              under  the  city  of  Iskorosten’  gathering
                              additional tribute from the Drevlians.
                              The rule of Olga, who:
                              1)  avenged  her  husband’s  death  by
                              slaughtering the nobility of the Drevlians and
