TOPIC 9
HUMAN BEING AND FUTURE
Lecture 16. Human being and future
1. Interrelation “human - world” as a fundamental question of
philosophy.
2. Human being and society.
3. Methods of predicting the future.
It should be emphasized that current issue will have something in
common with the first issue of the first lecture, concerning the human
world outlook and the realization of his or her harmony with the
environment in all times and for all nations. Surely, the problem
“human-world” is so big and fundamental, that it is impossible to realize
without the previously studied material. The following notions should be
specified: progress, culture, civilization, freedom, creative work and
other categories, connected with different chapters of the European
philosophic sciences, such as religious studies, cultural studies, ethics,
esthetics, psychology, sociology.
As for the society, it can be defined as the combination of all the
forms and methods of interaction and uniting people into certain groups
(socium). As a system, society includes everything created by a human
being as a special form of the matter (substance) movement. In modern
social philosophy, interrelation “a human-a society” is connected with
the information revolution, with the new understanding of the world.
That’s why, it is very important to emphasize for the international
students, that nowadays global civilization should be created on the
basis of unity and indivisibility of the society and plurality,
independence and diversity of cultures and nations.
It must be explained to the students that social predicting is the
reflection that leaves reality behind. It stands as the diverse system of
studies with theoretic and cognitive components, which in their turn are
connected with studying the laws of the material world, spheres of
practical use. The process of gaining knowledge about future is based on
special scientific methods. By the way, in the cultures of the East the
cult of “predicting” and “enlightenment“ is well-developed and differs
from the forecasting by its principal non-scientific character.
