are of primary importance. If the probability of the material is doubtful and the
editor's competence is not enough, then it is necessary to involve a scientific
consultant or a scientific editor in the work.
Establishing a copyright owner and obtaining a permission to publish.
Copyright is the sole right to reproduce the material in any form or to publish it. In
Ukraine, the copyright mark is placed in the form of a symbol @ in the lower right
corner of the cover page. One of the tasks for editing a future edition is to check
whether there is a right or a request for permission. In addition to the author's
rights, there are also copyright rights of the publisher who protect the printed
materials used in the publication. This means that this publication, compiled and
filed in a certain form, protected from the possibility of reproduction by another
publishing house.
Use your own style. When viewing the text in the required places, the
features of the style adopted for a particular type of editions are used.
Definition of structure. This operation involves defining the structural
organization of the text, the allocation of titles and distinctive places, the selection
of places for illustrations, etc., to give the publication a proper look. One can
distinguish the following main aspects of the analysis of editorial work:
- technological (organizing the work of the editor on a scientific basis);
- activity (definition of the structure of activity, the motivation-target sphere
of work, the determinants of labor, the meaningfulness of labor);
- psychophysiological (the definition of the mechanisms of work that
manages as a literary editor).
So, editing is a type of activity, and as any kind of activity, it has a complex
system-structural organization, a complex mechanism, a complex system of factors
that determine it. Each of these aspects involves an analysis of the subject of
editorial activity. The study of the subject of the editor's activity also has different
aspects of analysis: speech, communicative, cybernetic, social, linguistic, socio-
psychological, etc.
