LABORATORY WORK № 1
Classification and nomenclature of organic
compounds. Qualitative analysis of organic
compounds
Purpose: To have the rules of working with organic substances
and equipment.
Know the toxicity and fire hazard of the substances being studied.
Be able to make devices, conduct experiments of qualitative
determination in the organic compound of the main elements: C,
H, N, S, halogens.
Reagents and equipment:
Examples of test substances, lime or barite water, 5% solution of
plum (II) acetate, cuprum (II) oxide, cuprum (II) sulfate
(dehydrated), 30% solution of sodium hydroxide, test tubes, gas
vapor tube , tripod, copper wire, universal indicator.
The theoretical part
The classification of organic compounds is important, since it
facilitates their study and use in practice. The composition of all
organic compounds includes Carbon, which is quaternary, and
Hydrogen (monovalent). Carbon atoms can form chains (straight
and branched) or lock in loops, and also form double and triple
