GUIDELINES FOR BUYING ONLINE
While many online purchases are made with credit cards, this is not
always the only method. Companies should check if other options might
suit them better, such as direct debit cards. It is important to ensure that
purchases are only made from legitimate businesses. Governments around
the world offer services to establish the legitimacy of a business. For
example, in Australia, you can check the supplier's Australian Business
Number (ABN) or Australian Company Number (ACN). In UK, if you
are looking at a company that deals in financial services or products,
customers can check out their credentials by looking them up on the
Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) register. In USA, the Better Business
Bureau (BBB) helps consumers settle disputes related to sales, contracts,
customer service, warranties, billings, refunds and more. The BBB
accepts complaints even if the company does not belong to the Better
Business Bureau. BBB also tracks the company's response to customer
complaint. When others search BBB about the same company, they see
complaints and the company's attempt to solve the problem. In any case,
it is always a good idea to contact the supplier before making any
purchases.
Special care is needed when buying products from overseas
suppliers. Overseas suppliers are generally not covered under a country’s
trade laws, so companies need to be sure that these overseas suppliers are
