           requirements  for  them,  as  well  as  to  know  the  advantages  and
           disadvantages  of  each  design;  determine  the  type  of  box  by
           classification.
               Step-by-step transmissions of modern cars are equipped with
           synchronizers. When considering the designs of  the  gearbox and
           the work of inertial synchronizers, special attention should be paid
           to  ways  of  preventing  the  inclusion  of  transmission  at  uneven
           angular velocities of the interconnected parts; be able to show the
           locking surfaces of synchronizers and explain what forces act on
           them at alignment of angular velocities.
               It  is  necessary  to  know  the  purpose,  structure  and  work  of
           locks,  latches  and  locking  devices,  which  are  installed  in  the
           mechanisms of control stepped gearbox and distribution box. It is
           necessary  to  find  out  how  and  for  what  in  distribution  box  the
           inclusion of a  lower transmission with the excluded drive of the
           front diving axle is eliminated.
               In  the  distribution  box  with  a  differential  drive  pay  special
           attention  to  the  placement  and  construction  of  the  inter  axle
           differential,  and  to  find  out  in  what  ratio  is  distributed  torque
           between the driving bridges of the car.
               It is  necessary to study the design of the  speedometer drive
           and know where it is located - in the gearbox or distribution box.
               It is necessary to determine the type of lubrication system of
           each  tested  gearbox  consider  its  work,  pay  attention  to  the
           placement of fill and outlet in the crank case, to seal the joints and
           holes for the exit of the shafts in the crankcase or the ventilation of
           the crankcase.
               Studying the work of all gearbox it is first necessary to find
           out what parts are transmitted torque on all gears of the front and
           rear passage, to know, through what parts of the mechanical drive,
           the  effort  is  transferred  from  the  switch  lever  to  the  switch
           mechanism; to know the materials of the main parts of the gearbox
           and distribution box lubricant brands used for lubrication.
